I also fully support the statement made by GAC Chair Thomas Schneider.
It is of the at most importance that we all use a respectful tone whether we agree or disagree.

Kind Regards,

Dear Mr. Buckingham

Your message below, addressed to Kavouss Arasteh, representative of the Government of Iran, does not meet the standards that we all as members of the ICANN community should treat and talk to each other.

You may disagree with the points someone makes, you may have the view that somebody is taking up to much time/space on a mailing list.
This is all fine and it is your right to communicate such views.

But we all - as members of the global ICANN community - should always express ourselves with respect and take care of the words we use.

We are here working together in a global environment with people coming from very different stakeholder backgrounds and also from very different regions of the world with different cultures and ways of expressing ourselves.

But what we should all have in common when engaging - agreeing or disagreeing - with each other is a minimal standard of decency and manners in the way we talk to each other.

Thank you for giving this due regard in future communications.

Best,

Thomas Schneider

Chair of the GAC

P.S.
if the honourable queen of the united kingdom knew that someone with such a name expresses himself in such a way as you just did, she would probably be "not amused" :)

Kavouss,

I apologise for being so blunt.
Most of us haven't got time to read your drivel.
Please go away, get yourself up to speed, and allow us to focus on the very difficult tasks ahead.

Thanks,

Phil Buckingham

Dear Malcolm,
Dear Mathew,
Dear Thomas
Whether you take my comment as ICG Liaison or as GAC Member or as a participant, the points are still valid.
I do not wish to dispute about the protocol and formalities which is a time wasting issue.
Pls kindly take my points and consider them under any sub group
They are more than valid.
Kavouss

I agree.

If a member or participant (*) would like to raise an accountability
issue for this CCWG to consider, surely they should be able to do so
irrespective of whether it was mentioned in the previous public comment
period or not? It may have been mentioned elsewhere, or arise anew.

Please would the Chairs advise how they would like such issues to be
raised (for example, within WG1, within WG2 but not WG1 etc)

If the Chairs wish to exclude such items and limit the scope of this
CCWG's work to matters previously raised (I do not think this is the
intention, but let's be sure) then please say so explicitly, so that the
group may consider that proposition. If it is intended that new matters
can be raised, we need to know how you would prefer that we do so.

Kind Regards,

Malcolm.

(*) Is there a collective noun that we could use that would include both
"members" and "participants", without giving offence to either?
