I believe that my role of twelve years as the public policy lead for a national trade association (and more than seven with an international trade body) has given me extensive experience in the latter two areas; I submit more details in support of this claim below.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>Finally, like many here, I have prior experience working across stakeholder groups and across national and cultural boundaries. My primary role is with the business community (ISPs), which are a part of business closely related to the Internet technical community. Although I have never been directly employed by my own government (UK), I have on occasion been asked to speak and negotiate on its behalf in an international intergovernmental setting.
