[Alac-sc-outreach] [ALAC] Fwd: [ICANN60_Onboarding] Call for ICANN61 Nominations

Dear all,

I said when the CROP fund was used first for people to go to ICANN meetings, that this is a mistake. This program (CROP) was designed to make outreach for new people. 
Now that it’s proposed that CROP is used for the COP menses, I say nooo. No for the following reasons:
Doing so will minimize the opportunity for outreach which is the sole objective of this program
The Onboarding program would be with no interest if it is for only one meeting. Remember how many meetings took the first pilot program (From Marrakech to Abu Dhabi = 4-5 meetings)

We will end up with the ICANN org cancel the CROP program because we are using it for what wasn’t intended to be the objective.

As for the selection of the Mentors / Mentees, we are supposed now to do it through the community. Since we are supposed to be a bottom-up decision making community, let’s take proposals from the RALOs. The final selection from the pool the RALOs proposed should be done by the selection committee (we have created a committee, let’s use it).
