[AT-Review] Remove certain emails from archives

Hi Warren,

It was brought up in conversations and we've discovered that prior to the vote, there was at least one person who did not understand that the list was to be made public. If there is no other emails to be removed, all the better.

I feel that it be prudent to double check with the RT before taking an action that can never be reversed once a web crawler gets to the archives.

Louie

P.S. That person wasn't me. :)

P.P.S. This conversation will be made public, so at least the references to any emails to be removed will be recorded.

I struggle with the very notion of the email below on review of the archive of emails.
Why would email traffic from the Accountability & Transparency group be edited or redacted?
At a minimum, transparency dictates the need of notifying the community that the emails were removed or redacted prior to release if such activity does occur.

Dear Colleagues,

We are about ready to make the email archive public. There are 2 items to address before we do so:

1. Please review the archives to see if we need to remove certain messages from the archives.
2. Brian, please confirm for me that we are okay to make the archive public once we have removed the appropriate messages.

Alice & I would like you answer by about Tuesday morning, if you please.

The messages we have so far identified as appropriate for removal include:
1. Minutes of the closed meeting we had with ICANN staff.
2. My cell phone number.

The archive can be found at:

If you need your list password sent to you, just enter your email address at the bottom of this webpage and follow the directions afterwards:

Fabio,

Thank you for the heads up. Agreed this is a problem. Alice, who put the Doodle forward and can we identify what went wrong here. Can everyone please check the Doodle regarding the question of making the email archive public or not and confirm that your selection is properly represented. Please provide a quick response so we can validate the remainder of the Doodle while we investigate the problem with the vote under Fabio’s name.

Regards,
Brian

Brian, Alice,

I am very worried. I have just seen the results of this Doodle.

I appear to have replied and to be favourable to opening the e-mail archives. May be.

But the crucial thing is that I have never replied to it ! ! !

Somebody has replied in my name. The Doodle system asks the person to chose is name. Anyone can answer in somebody’s elses’s name.

That this happens on such a crucial issue is very, very worrying. We must look into it.

Fabio

Based on the voting, has this now been enabled?
