I don't know how many of you knew Doug Engelbart or his work.  He was a mild-mannered man often overshadowed in the company of the larger egos in the DARPA/IPTO community.  His group was one of the first sites on the Arpanet.  He invented the mouse and developed the first working system that used hypertext (links) and other ideas that were incorporated into Xerox PARC's early work on interacting computing and from there directly into Apple's early products.

Jon Postel worked in his laboratory in the mid-1970s before moving to USC's Information Sciences Institute for the rest of his career.
