BC members — I mentioned this on last week's call. The Online Trust Alliance (OTA) has organized a 1-day workshop to assess ICANN's new plan to manage domain name collisions with new gTLDs.

Sponsors include BT, Internet Identity (IID), Symantec, US Telecom, and Verisign.

There's no charge to participate, and there will be remote participation capability.

See registration page at http://gtld-collision.eventbrite.com

When: Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM (EDT)

Where: Westin Hotel - Dulles Airport, 2520 Wasser Terrace, Herndon, VA 20171

BC members who are participating so far:
Jim Baskin and Sarah Deutsch, Verizon
Marilyn Cade
Phil Corwin
Steve DelBianco
Anjali Hansen

Join OTA and industry leaders for a discussion on the risk and consequences of domain collisions resulting from the delegation of new gTLDs. This full-day multi-stakeholder workshop will review the open issues and help develop remediation plans to address the impending risk of Domain Collision. Not unlike Y2K and the recent efforts to address the threats of DNSChanger exploit, the business community, industry and infrastructure providers need to work together to understand the risks and how to prepare for them.
