[ccwg-internet-governance] [soac-discussion] CCWG Internet Governance

The RySG identified 4 to ensure we have backup in case one or more of our reps has a scheduling conflict. I doubt we’ll have all 4 reps participating on every call.

Keith

I would have preferred to see it limited to the original 3 per, but can accept 4 per sg or ac.

Hi folks

without wanting to overly formalize things or turn this into the sort of mind numbing debate about how many of who gets to sit where that we’ve experienced with 1net and beyond, it does seem to me we are going to need some baseline agreement here. It’s not going to work well if NCSG and At Large limit themselves to three each while BC has a dozen, RySG has 4, etc etc. Someone in our respective communities will object that the process is not multi-equal-stakeholders (hey, I found a use for the term :-) and needs to restart with parity.

Under the circumstances I’m inclined to propose up to four per tribe. Even with this restriction, the group will be gigantic and may struggle. What do others think? Elisa, no way you could sell a initial limit with final selection tbd?

Either way, please let me know ASAP. If we have no limits I am guessing a bunch of noncommercial folks will want to join the call tonight, so I would need to send out the dial in info pronto to avoid grumpiness.

Thanks

Bill

Dear Michele,

thanks for this. Excellent to hear James is joining. I have asked Ergys to add him because I don't have the ability to add anyone to the mailing list. So if you need to add people and that includes the request from Elisa too, please email ergys.ramaj at icann.org<mailto:ergys.ramaj at icann.org> who is the Staff member supporting the WG and he'll add the names to the list.
Kind regards,

Olivier

Dear all,

I realise that the SO/AC mailing list is a closed mailing list which might not have readily available/findable/open archive of mailings, so some people in our ICANN community are wondering what in the world is happening here.

Therefore three things I'd suggest:

  1. if you haven't already done so, please share the announcement of the creation of this CCWG on Internet Governance with your community. The archives of the WG are open and can therefore be readily consulted in full transparency.
  2. for those SO/AC/SG Chairs who have not yet identified a list of people you'd like to take direct part in the WG (average so far is around 3-4 per SO/AC/SG) don't worry -- work will start but things will be archived for your colleagues to catch up
  3. I'll switch further communication to the ccwg-internet-governance mailing list only in future mailing so as to be as transparent only whilst not crowding the SOAC Discussion list anymore.

Kind regards,

Olivier
