[ccwg-internet-governance] Who's going to Brazil?

All,

In looking for accommodation, I came across the Novotel which seemed to be:

a. Fairly close to the venue

b. Moderately priced (circa US$150 per night)

c. Had decent reviews

Trust that’s useful.

Hi Olivier

I had a booking at TRYP Sao Paulo Naçoes Unidas Hotel that I canceled yesterday to move to Estanplaza Berrini because that’s where my sponsor (APC) is putting all its wards. The TRYP is fairly close to the conference venue and reasonably priced. You or anyone else in need might want to check it out. The lovely URL is

Hello everyone,

I'm already faced with problems re: hotel accommodation. I have had bad experiences in past Ibis in non European countries - for example I had to leave the Dubai WTC Ibis prematurely because it was such a dump & my room was a dirty ashtray.
So I contacted the Gran Estanplaza for the special rate @ NetMundial. All sold out. Yet when I looked on Expedia @ normal rate, there was capacity (and I booked at the normal but fully refundable rate).
Instead, if sticking to the special NetMundial rate, the Gran Estanplaza hotel wants to put me up at the Estanplaza Berrini which is further away from the conference venue. I know a couple of people from this WG are already booked there. Does it look like we're going to be all scattered all around the place?

Kind regards,

Olivier

Could everyone going please email me privately with your flight and hotel information, as well as your skype ID and phone (if you will be using it in Brazil).

Thanks!

All,

Same here. Arrive on the 21rst - depart on the 25th. Staying at the IBIS. It would be nice to have a list of all who are around and to co-ordinate things.

See you there

Dear all, not sure how to input my data. I am on the HLmC for civil society, and the Brazilian organizers have bought my ticket and promised coverage for a hotel, don't know where yet. I arrive April 21 at 10am, participate at the cvil society meeting on the 22nd and the HLmC 23-24 and leave late on the 25th.

Hi Evan, all,

I think a group chat would indeed be very helpful.

I will be in Sao Paulo for the European ISPs.

With regard to NETmundial, I received two very helpful documents recently, summarizing the key points of the contributions from Industry and Governments. Pls. see both attached, maybe also of interest for this WG.

Best

Oliver

As we get closer to the conference, I wonder if it might be a good idea to know which of this group will actually be in attendance, and how best to coordinating our efforts there. Many who are being funded to go, know by now.

For those who will actually be in So Paulo I wonder if there is value in setting up communications channels between us so we can be most effective at the conference. Until the conference takes place this list is still the best venue IMO... but once things start happening in real time, something more immediate such as a Skype chat or Google Hangout may be more appropriate.

Those from At-Large who I'm aware are going include myself, Olivier, Carlton, Tijani Avri and Leon.
