Good morning.  We briefly touched on the proposed Microsoft Digital Geneva Convention at our IG Session at ICANN60. 

 

Tomorrow in Geneva, Brad Smith (and others) will be discussing the Convention and other IG issues. There is on-line access to discussion (see below) and ICANN will be represented by Tarek Kamel and colleagues from Office here. 

 

I will report on the Session.

Internet can be a facilitator for human rights, development, and economic stability and growth, contributing decisively to human development. At the same time, cyber-terrorism, online crime, and other forms of Internet misuse demonstrate how Internet governance remains a challenge in need of urgent attention.Microsoft CEO Mr Brad Smith will deliver the keynote speech, and will discuss various aspects of Internet governance and the proposed Digital Geneva Convention with Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Ms Kate Gilmore, and the Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to the United Nations in New York Mr Phillip Spoerri.Join the online discussion The discussion will be livestreamed[giplatform.us6.list-manage.com], and an online discussion will take place via #GenevaDigital and on and Digital Watch observatory at dig.watch/geneva#livestream[giplatform.us6.list-manage.com]The event will be opened by the Director-General of UN Office in Geneva Mr Michael Møller and UNITAR Executive Director Mr Nikhil Seth.
