Many thanks for your update.

I am sorry to have missed the meeting in Dallas (I’m currently in Seoul), but clearly marvellous progress has been made. It will of course be a pleasure, as usual, to work with Professor Zhang along the lines you outline.

Incidentally, I am seeing Professor Keecheon Kim on Tuesday, so it will be interesting to hear the Korean perspective.

Dear Prof. Zhang, Prof. Li and Prof. Dillon

         JGP and CGP had a successful meeting this week in IETF 92, Dallas.
         Both two parties agreed that:
         1) The update of definition for Variants within a language environment and across languages environments proposed by Prof. Zhang

       2) CGP would continue working on its revised (reduced) repertoire, variant table (outcome expected to come up in mid-April)

         3) Based on that, JGP would define (adopt) passive variants and revise its repertoire and variant table.

         For the next step, I’d like to ask Prof. Zhang to lead the following work together with Prof. Li and Prof. Dillon

1)       The principle of revision (reduction) of current repertoire ASAP, (needs to be discussed within CGP)

2)       The revised repertoire and variant table (needs to be confirmed by CDNC)
As suggested in the last CGP Abode connect meeting, the revision should be handled in a conservative manner to reserve a large space for the future gTLD application.
         The first version is expected to be done by mid-April.


         在IETF92达拉斯会议上，CGP和JGP会面并达成如下共识：
         1）同意由张轴材老师提出的variants定义更新。
         2）CGP对现有字表进行适当删减，减少不必要的异体字，降低复杂度。
         3）JGP将在新字表基础上，定义其passive variants

         下一步，还要有请张老师牵头，与李国英老师和Chris Dillon一起开展以下工作：
         1）CGP字表的修订原则 （需要在CGP内讨论通过）
         2）CGP字表的修订内容 （需要与CDNC的现有实践比较并达成共识）
         在两周前CGP电话会议上，大家一致认为CGP字表修订需要尽可能地为未来gTLD注册保留空间，因此相关修订应以保守为上
（个人建议，明确的历史废弃字、吏读字、日文借用字等可删除，否则无需太过激进）

         以上工作，希望四月中旬能有第一个版本。还请张老师费心。
