more generally, about the significant change that has occurred at the top level of the domain name system since 2012, following the introduction of more than 1200 new gTLDs. It is important for all users of the Internet to understand that new domain name extensions
are available that are safe and valid Internet addresses, providing more choice for consumers. As the organization that oversaw the introduction of the significant expansion in 2102, ICANN has a public policy obligation to ensure that consumers understand
this change and because of the global reach of the DNS, this does need to be a Global Awareness Campaign that goes beyond the usual suspects in the ICANN community and ecosystem.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
