Although incoming Councillors, and indeed everyone, can read the public transcripts, it is more convenient to have the posts coming directly to your mailbox to be managed in a manner of your choosing. Seems like a no-brainer particularly when there is a precedent for doing so.<BR>

Chuck, Olga and I had discussed this in our Council leaders meeting before Chuck submitted the question to the Council list.<BR>
<BR>
We all agreed that having new Councillors on the list as observers (i.e. without posting permission as Rafik recalls from last year) is a nice way to transition them into the Council. Plus, as they're observers, there's no harm done.<BR>
<BR>
It's a small point and I don't think we should be spending much time on it, but it does seem like a nice way of welcoming people to the Council.<BR>
