a previous discussion by the Council. I believe that the Council should discuss the Board’s letter and the responses to date in the context of what is a reasonable timeframe for commencing the next application round.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:#1F497D"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:#1F497D">Akram Atallah has suggested that there will not be another round before 2020, but is 8 years an acceptable period of time between processes, particularly given there was an expectation of a next
round some 12 months after the 2012 round? Is it possible for the Council to identify what it believes is an acceptable period between when the new gTLD application process opened on 12 January 2012, to a subsequent process? Notwithstanding the diverging views
about what is or isn’t on the critical path to a next round, is it within the realms of possibility that the requisite work could be finalized by the end of 2017, and a subsequent application round commenced on 1 June 2018?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
