As you know, Amr Elsadr resigned from the Council after joining ICANN staff. <br>


<br>


In such a case NCSG Charter calls for the Executive Committee to fill the <br>


vacant council position until the next regularly-scheduled election. <br>


<br>


The EC first appointed Avri Doria as a temporary alternate for <br>


transition period, as per GNSO Operating Procedures 3.8.3 b, until the <br>


end of ICANN 58 meeting in Copenhagen, that is up to March 16, 2017. <br>


<br>


Then the EC appointed Martin Pablo Silva Valent as Amr's replacement, to <br>


be seated after ICANN58, that is as of March 17, 2017, until the next <br>


regular election, which in this case works out to be the same as end of <br>


Amr's term, ICANN60 in Abu Dhabi. <br>
