<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt"><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)">On 1 November 2017, ICANN Board Chair Cherine Chalaby <a href="https://www.icann.org/news/blog/board-member-integrity-screening" target="_blank">reported</a> on several
steps that the Board agreed to take around Board Member Integrity Screening, an issue we had been discussing for a while. These steps included, among others, the passage of Resolution <a href="https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2017-11-02-en#2.c" target="_blank">2017.11.02.33</a>,
which directed ICANN organization to develop and post for public comment calling on the Supporting Organizations (SOs) and Advisory Committees (ACs) that do not currently employ a due diligence integrity screening process to seriously consider utilizing a
due diligence integrity screening process similar (or identical to) the processed used by the Nominating Committee.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt"><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt"><span style="background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0)">On 2 March, the <a href="https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/proposed-uniform-board-integrity-screening-process-02mar18-en.pdf" target="_blank">proposal paper</a> regarding
the Board Member Integrity Screening was published for <a href="https://www.icann.org/public-comments/board-integrity-screening-2018-03-02-en" target="_blank">public comment</a>. This public comment proceeding seeks community input on the recommendation that SOs and ACs that
do not currently employ a due diligence integrity screening process similar to the Nominating Committee adopt the <a href="https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/proposed-uniform-board-integrity-screening-process-02mar18-en.pdf" target="_blank">proposed Uniform Board
Member Integrity Screening Process</a> to conduct due diligence on the candidates selected to serve on the ICANN Board.<u></u><u></u></span></p>

Becky Burr, as Chair of the Board Governance Committee. In her blog, Becky advised that “[t]he Board will include this on the agenda for our sessions during ICANN61 with relevant Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees” that that do not currently
employ a due diligence integrity screening process similar (or identical to) the Nominating Committee.
