<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">We are seeking volunteers to participate in an initial discussion regarding the eventual board consultation on the EPDP Phase 2 SSAD recommendations.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">In its <a href="https://community.icann.org/display/gnsocouncilmeetings/Motions+24+September+2020">
adoption of the EPDP Phase 2 report</a>, the Council resolved, “</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Noting some of the questions surrounding the financial sustainability of SSAD and some of the concerns expressed within the different minority statements,
the GNSO Council <b><i>requests a consultation with the ICANN Board</i></b> as part of the delivery of the GNSO Council Recommendations Report to the ICANN Board to discuss these issues, including whether a further cost-benefit analysis should be conducted
before the ICANN Board considers all SSAD-related recommendations for adoption.” (emphasis added)<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The Board recently <a href="https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/botterman-to-fouquart-01dec20-en.pdf">
responded</a> to <a href="https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/fouquart-to-botterman-29oct20-en.pdf">
Philippe’s letter</a>, and noted the Council’s request for a consultation. The letter also provides: [the Board] “welcomes the Council’s suggestion for an initial dialogue among GNSO Council and Board members, and will support such a conversation prior to undertaking
these steps.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">In line with above, Council Leadership has requested Support Staff to send out a call for volunteers for those interested in participating in an initial discussion regarding this consultation. Council volunteers
will be asked to attend an initial brainstorming meeting to discuss the eventual consultation. During this brainstorming session, volunteers may discuss, for example, how many councilors should participate in the consultation, if the group should be representative,
strategy for how to approach the session, et.al.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
