[client com] Draft Instructions to Sidley Austin - 14 April 2015

Client Committee List for CWG cwg-client at icann.org
Fri Apr 17 00:01:49 UTC 2015

Dear Client Committee,

With respect to #2 below, is there a more current version of the DT-C (CSC) output for our review and comment? We have the version that was included in the reading materials for the Monday/Tuesday calls, but we wanted to know if there was a more current version based on discussions between Design Teams C, M and N? If not, we can review the version from earlier this week, informed by the revisions that are being made to the Design Team –M output.

Thanks,
Sharon

Subject: [client com] Draft Instructions to Sidley Austin - 14 April 2015

Dear Sidley,

During the call today (Meeting #40) of the CWG, I agreed to document our next instructions to you.

As I see it, as we move from the intensive sessions and towards a draft proposal for public comment, we need the following:

1. To communicate to you as full as possible set of answers to the Sidley “Punch List” of 11th April. This will provide you with a comprehensive information base from which you can develop further guidance on our model. This work depends on the final outcomes of the design teams and we are working on finalising that ASAP.

2. We need you to review the final output from DT-C (CSC) in order to ensure we (DT-C) have made adequate provisions to deal with any conflict of issues or other best practice governance requirements.
On the basis of that review we would like you to suggest any improvements as you see fit.

3. We have developed a more detailed description to flesh out the list of the areas of work from the CCWG on which we are depending to support our transition proposal.
Here, we are reliant on the work of the CCWG for key areas of (broader) ICANN accountability to support the adequate development our own (IANA related) accountability needs.
In order to satisfactorily rely on this (broader) ICANN accountability work we need to have a form of words in our CWG proposal that makes it clear our proposal is conditional on such measures being designed and either implemented or committed to in a way we can depend on in advance of the stewardship transition. In so doing, we seek to bind our proposal to the output of the CCWG and we need your assistance to institutionalise that commitment.

These have not been pre-vetted by the client committee so may need further refinement or indeed have additions made before you commence work in earnest.

Also, you may feel these need further explanation or discussion and we can certainly use the scheduled Client Committee meeting on Thursday 16th April to do so.

Many thanks,

Jonathan
