Hi Jonathan,

We will be sending the IPR memo to the Client Committee later today. Will
someone then forward to CWG (we don’t have email rights)?

Thanks,
Sharon

Hello Josh,

Do you have a more precise estimate of when we’ll receive something?

Will you send it out during your day today?

Thank-you.

Jonathan -- We’ll look to have something for the committee to review by the
middle of next week, in advance of the Thursday call. There may be some
additional stressors the committee would like tested that will come out of
the call.

Sam Eisner – Would it be possible to have a brief call this afternoon? I
wanted to follow-up on the questions I had directed to Greg for obtaining
answers. I am in my LA office (California time), and can be available
anytime for the remainder of the day.

Cheers,
Josh

Josh / Sharon,

We have a CWG Meeting next Thursday (6th August) @ 11h00 UTC.

It will be helpful in planning for that meeting to know what (if anything)
you’ll be able to contribute (before or during the meeting) on the IPR
issue.

Thank-you.

Thanks Greg, this is helpful. We would like to request a schedule from
Jones Day of all registered marks, names, logos, and the like, as well as
all domain names (including second level, redirects, etc.). We’d like to
get a sense of the enormity (or not) of the administrative task associated
with a change in ownership. This should be a worldwide schedule, and you’re
right, if Jones Day has been managing the docket all along, then hopefully
this won’t be hard to generate.

Nonetheless, this is a request that needs to be routed through the proper
channels, of course, so perhaps you or one of the co-chairs can facilitate
having this authorized and Jones Day set to the task.

Cheers,
Josh

Greg,

Thanks this is very helpful. A couple follow-up questions as well:

1. Are there trademarks, tradenames and logos that have been registered
in countries outside the United States?

I have not conducted a comprehensive search, but I am not aware of any
registrations outside the US. I did check the TMView search tool offered by
OHIM (European Community trademark office), which covers the CTM and many of
the country-level registrations, as well as the US. It did not reveal any
other registrations.

ICANN's outside counsel (Jones Day) should have all this information
available in their trademark docketing software, and they should be able to
quickly generate a report for all the IANA-related marks, with all this
information and more (you may want the description of goods & services as
well).

I would expect that the ICANN employee in charge of managing their domain
names should be able to generate a report with all this information. I do
know that ICANN owns iana.com

I based this on reviewing the trademark registration for IETF on the USPTO
website, where the trademark is held in the name of the trustees,
specifically as follows:

(REGISTRANT) The Trustees of the IETF TRUST, a Virginia trust, the trustees
comprising Stephen D. Crocker, Lucy Elizabeth Lynch, Lynn M. St. Amour and
Raymond G. Pelletier, Jr., all U.S. citizens, Brian E. Carpenter, a United
Kingdom citizen, Leslie L. Daigle and Edmund B. Juskevicius, both Canadian
citizens, Kurt Erik Lindqvist, a Swedish citizen and Jonne Adam Soininen, a
Finnish citizen TRUST VIRGINIA 1775 WIEHLE AVENUE #102 C/O RAY PELLETIER,

I also based this on a review of the IETF Founding Documents, which are at
http://trustee.ietf.org/founding-documents.html
<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__trustee.ietf.org_foundi

It's worth noting that the IETF Trust is set up as a trust for
IETF-related IPR, and the sole beneficiary is the IETF (or
the IETF's successor with respect to the development of technical standards
for the Internet

)

I also reviewed that the IETF "General Trademark License" template on their

name of the Trust and makes no mention of the Trustees. (Interestingly,
while this trademark license makes reference to usage and quality control
guidelines, which are in a separate document at
