With great hesitation I would like to suggest that all of us have our hats,
and it is inevitable our hats colour what people think we will say. That's
even independent of becoming known for positions we take (or having others
attribute to us a stubbornness about those positions which doesn't exist).

The old engineering motto of being liberal in what we accept and
conservative in what we send probably works...
