[Dt-cwg-auctionproceeds] Language on Board Consideration

Dear Jonathan and Alan,

 

On behalf of Asha and Erika as Board Liaisons to the Drafting Team, I am sending the below note from the ICANN Board in relation to the opportunity to provide language on Section 5 of the Draft Charter under ‘Board Consideration’:

 

Board thanks the drafting team for its work in drafting a charter for the eventual Cross Community Working Group to develop a proposal(s) for the disbursement of the auction proceeds stemming from the auctions held by an ICANN authorized auction provider to resolve string contention as a method of last resort in the New gTLD Program

 

Board looks forward to the completion of the charter of the CCWG on New gTLD Auction Proceeds, as well as the eventual recommendations of the CCWG

 

Board commits to the following principle when considering the consensus-based recommendations of the CCWG:

·         Board agrees to enter into a dialogue with the CCWG if the Board does not believe that it can accept a recommendation (including, for example, where Board’s fiduciary responsibilities or legal obligations are impacted, or other obligations under the Bylaws or related Articles may be impacted)
