Adobe Chat Transcript for Thursday 5 March 2015:
Glen de Saint Gery:Welcome to the Translation and Transliteration Contact Information PDP WG on Thursday 5 March 2015 at 1400 UTC

  Pitinan Kooarmornpatana:Hi all

  Chris Dillon:Hello all

  Pitinan Kooarmornpatana:hi hi hi :)

  Lars Hoffmann:hello everybody

Rudi Vansnick:good morning, good afternoon, good evening to all

Rudi Vansnick:it is not impossible i will be dropped of adobe sometimes as the provider is executing upgrades of the network in my street

Rudi Vansnick:they promised if it happens it would be a short cut off

Lars Hoffmann:dear all - a full document with 'responses' will be circulated tomorrow.

Amr Elsadr:Thanks Lars. Really appreciate it.

Rudi Vansnick:let's try to get through the full list of comments today and then produce an update

  Jim Galvin:+1 amr

  Jim Galvin:anxiously waiting for summary...

  Justine Chew:+1 Jim

Amr Elsadr:I'm sorry. What number are we on?

  Rudi Vansnick:58

 Amr Elsadr:Thanks Rudi.

Jim Galvin:careful about references to law enforcement

Amr Elsadr:I think my point was specifically about LEA requests may not specifically be actual legal requirements.

  Justine Chew:+1 Jim

Amr Elsadr:Jim makes a good point.

Amr Elsadr:I'm not in favor of using this term. DNR-DS

Rudi Vansnick:agree with Amr : the charter says WHOIS

  Petter Rindforth:Thats even better

  Rudi Vansnick:good proposal Jim

Jim Galvin:Well, I would argue that not everyone understands it. That's why we need new terminology.

Jim Galvin:WHOIS is one of 3 things and that's the confusion.

Amr Elsadr:Wasn't there that market study that Sarmad was involved in - on available systems that automate transformation?

Rudi Vansnick:it seems there would be a need to identify if the data is translated or transliterated

  Amr Elsadr:@Chris: +1

Amr Elsadr:I believe this was the finding of the study.

Rudi Vansnick:would require an additional tag

Amr Elsadr:If I'm not mistaken "uniform" is specified in the RAA. I need to go back and check that.

  Amr Elsadr:@Jim: +1

  Pitinan Kooarmornpatana:+1 @jim

Amr Elsadr:@Petter: Are you suggesting that all present and future users are proficient in English or another Latin-based script? :)

  Amr Elsadr:The Arab world?

Petter Rindforth:When it comes to pure business & legal aspects, yes

Amr Elsadr:Not true Petter. There are many local services in Egypt that are provided online in Arabic. There is no reason to assume that the consumers of these services speak English or other languages.

Amr Elsadr:I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case in other countries using other languages/scirpts.

  Amr Elsadr:@Jim: +1

Amr Elsadr:I'm missing the association between the issues pertaining to trademarks/lists of goods and services, and contact data in the whois. Not sure I understand this.

Amr Elsadr:Why are we discussing mechanisms? We're supposed to be discussing desirability.

Petter Rindforth:It's an example of automatic translation that works and is accepted

Amr Elsadr:@Petter: Ah Thanks. Missed that point, which changes the context for me.

Rudi Vansnick:wil still have to cover 14 points and as we are close to the hour i think we will need another session

Amr Elsadr:Yes. The ability to actually do something will impact its desirability.

Rudi Vansnick:do we deliver an updated document next week ?

  Lars Hoffmann:yes rudi

Amr Elsadr:I thought we'd get it tomorrow?

  Amr Elsadr:OK. Thanks.

  Pitinan Kooarmornpatana:thanks lars

Rudi Vansnick:many thanks, hear you all next week

  Roger Carney:Thanks!!

  Amr Elsadr:Thanks all. Bye.

  Pitinan Kooarmornpatana:Thanks all.

  Jim Galvin:thanks all bye
