Geographic Terms Requiring Letters of Support/Non-Objection (Recommendations 10, 12, 13)
Capital city names, Sub-national place names (county, province, or state, listed in the ISO 3166-2 standard), UNESCO or M49 Area
Languages:  At our last meeting we reviewed the comments relating to the language requirement for geographic terms: "An application for any string that is a representation, in any language, of the capital city name of any country or territory listed in the ISO 3166-1 standard".  There was general acceptance and no objections towards refining the language requirements to reflect more relevance and practical applicability. At this stage, the group considered the following option to be a suitable base for further discussion: 
The official language of the country/territory/capital city.
Translations of the country/territory/capital city in UN languages.
WT5 members are encouraged to consider this and to put forward suggestions via the email list as well as during our next call.
