I wonder if those who were seeking some changes and don't see any in this report actually agree with this statement in section D.

"After extensive discussion the Work Track arrived at the conclusion that 2012 implementation is an outcome that is more acceptable to the group as a whole than the alternatives considered."

The fact that no agreement for change was reached doesn't make it acceptable.

Hi,

Page 18 “if if” in the 2nd sentence.

In summary I must say the “report” could be shortened to:

“Due to partisan divisions in the working group we have not changed the protection of geo-communities AT ALL – but have kept the 2012 provisions in its entirety”.

I mean: I do not see ANY “change” at all. So many years of hard work – and no evolution of geo community protection AT ALL. Very frustrating.

I have suggested on several occasions that we impose a shelf-life for the signature on the letter of non-objection (e.g. max 3 month prior to application submission); e.g. to avoid a second “.africa” disaster. What about that suggestion?

Thanks,

Alexander

Sent on behalf of the Work Track 5 Co-Leaders

Dear Work Track 5 members,

Please find attached a draft of the Work Track 5 report to the full Working Group for your review. As discussed on our last call, this report is much shorter than the Initial Report and focuses on Work Track 5’s recommendations to the full Working Group. Please note that this report only summarizes deliberations that have taken place since the publication of the Initial Report and does not repeat points, issues, and positions covered in the Initial Report.

If you have comments on this draft, please provide feedback to the Work Track 5 mailing list no later than Friday 11 October. Please focus your comments on anything that is incorrect, missing, or that you otherwise feel that you are completely unable to accept. Minor editorial suggestions, such as typo corrections, can be sent directly to staff.

A call will be scheduled on Wednesday 16 October to discuss any feedback the leadership team receives that cannot be easily resolved with proposed edits.

Please note that there a few non-substantive edits in part (D) that have been added since the last version of this section was circulated. The edits are intended to improve clarity of the text and are shared in redline, so that all members have a chance to review.

Kind regards,

WT5 Co-Leaders
Olga Cavalli, Annebeth Lange, Javier Rúa-Jovet, Martin Sutton
