This proposal also appears below, and was confirmed during today's WG
call. The list of volunteers already gathered during today's call will be
circulated shortly, followed by a kick-off email to each small team once
lists for discussion are in place. If you have bandwidth over the next
two weeks and expertise in one of the following areas and wish to
volunteer to contribute to one or more teams, you may do so by replying
to this message.<br><br>

<h1><font face="Calibri"><b>Leadership team's proposed approach to gather
input to inform work plan</b></font></h1><font face="Calibri">Given the
very large number of available inputs and the need to familiarize all WG
members with the fundamental questions to be addressed by this PDP, the
leadership team suggests the following next step to inform finalization
of the work plan.<br><br>
Specifically, we propose to insert a new task into the work plan which
draws upon the expertise of WG members most familiar with each
fundamental question to collect, consolidate, concisely summarize, and
then present inputs and information about the following topics to help
educate the full WG:<br>

A staff member will provide support for each of the teams.<br><br>
Each concise summary would be developed by a small team of volunteers
from the full WG. Over a two week period, with support from members
of the leadership team and staff, each small team would be tasked with
collecting, consolidating, and concisely summarizing inputs and
information relevant to the fundamental topic assigned to that team. Upon
completion, these concise summaries would be presented by each small team
to the full WG to help educate everyone about past work, available input
documents, and other pertinent information relevant to each question,
such as dependencies between questions which may need to be factored into
the work plan.<br><br>
This new task is a preparatory step for finalizing the work plan and all
other tasks that follow. All analysis and discussion of related questions
will still take place at the full WG level, informed by the summaries and
the large set of available inputs that they draw upon. The aim is to draw
upon available WG member experience and expertise in each area to provide
the full WG with a useful educational summary that will help the full WG
sequence and analyze phase 1 questions as effectively as possible.

Small teams may identify both existing and additional inputs and
concisely summarize those inputs for presentation to the full WG. To
minimize duplication of effort, small teams should start with key inputs
for each question already posted on the WG's wiki: <br>

Small teams are asked to provide initial summaries for presentation to
the full WG at the 5 April WG meeting. A progress report from each team
is requested in the 29 March WG call. While further input gathering
will no doubt be needed throughout this PDP, the goal of this preliminary
input gathering is to inform the full WG so that it may then finalize its
phase 1 work plan before beginning deliberations together on all
fundamental questions and sub-questions. <br><br>
