<p class="MsoNormal">Several people have pointed out that I should not have given my warning to Paul Keating on the public list so I want to apologize for that. My intent in sending it to the full list was to remind everyone to stop posting on that thread
but in the future I will send such warnings to the individual(s) involved privately first.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">My warning to Paul was apparently received as chastisement so I apologize to Paul for that.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">To everyone: In setting the rules for restricting list discussions, our purpose was to keep the list manageable for all of us and to maximize our efficiency. In a group this size and this controversial we will have to focus our discussions
to a narrow set of issues at one time or it will be impossible to make progress. And when we do that, everyone needs to remember that that does not mean that the issues members are debating are not important but rather that they will be discussed at a later
point so we are asking that you wait until that point in time. That will minimize having to repeat them again and will also help us to conclude current topics sooner. Several of you are pretty good about pointing out when we get ahead of ourselves; I appreciate
that and encourage everyone to be responsive to those nudges.<o:p></o:p></p>
