[Gnso-rpm-trademark] Reminder - ICANN64: RPM Trademark Claims Sub Team Meetings 10-11 March 2019

Dear RPM Trademark Claims Sub Team members,

This is a reminder that the next Sub Team meetings will be at ICANN64 in Kobe, with remote participation provided as usual.  There is no Sub Team meeting this week to avoid conflicting with travel to ICANN64. During last week’s meeting on 27 February the Sub Team finished its analysis of the remaining previously collected data sources as well as the additional data sources to determine if they may help to answer the Trademark Claims charter questions.

Please see below the schedule of RPM PDP Working Group (WG) and Sub Team meetings at ICANN64.  In particular, please note that the Sub Team will provide a progress report on its analysis of previously collected data and additional data to the full WG in session 1 at ICANN64, and turn to the development of preliminary recommendations in Session 4.  (The Sunrise Sub Team will use Sessions 2 and 3 for its development of preliminary recommendations.) The Summary Tables/Reports of the Sub Team’s analysis have been provided to the Sub Team to review along with draft slides for the presentation to the WG.

Description: Part 1: The GNSO’s Review of All Rights Protection Mechanisms (RPMs) Policy Development Process (PDP) Working Group was chartered in March 2016 to conduct a two-phased PDP. In Phase One, which is ongoing, the Working Group is reviewing all the RPMs that were developed for the 2012 New gTLD Program. This includes developing possible recommendations concerning the use and effectiveness of the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) Sunrise and Trademark Claims RPMs. In the first of four open community sessions being held at ICANN64, the Working Group will discuss presentations from the Trademark Claims and Sunrise Sub Teams on the results of their data analysis.  All interested community members are welcome to attend this session.
