Ahead of each Board workshop, the ICANN Org Executive Team compiles a brief report for the Board that summarises each department’s recent activity. These are now made public on the ICANN website. The most recent one, covering the period 28 August 2017 to 4 January 2018, can be found here:

I was thinking this might be a helpful resource as we seek to understand what different departments do and what their priorities are.
