Ayden,
Thank you. I think I understand. In principle, your request is very clear and simple. In practice, to address your question, we need to compare the list of projects year-on-year, and identify what the driver for an FY18 project to have disappeared or reduced in spending. In addition, we have reviewed and adjusted the structure and number of projects during the FY19 budget process, resulting in about 230 projects in FY19 compared to 360 projects in FY18., so the comparability year on year is a bit more difficult this year.
I suggest we focus on the projects that are included in the Policy development support (Goal 1.2) and that are either applied to the entire community (like the CROP) or are specific to the GNSO, and provide a comparison between the FY18 project list and the FY19 project list. We will work with Berry to try to provide this list over the next few days.
Thank you.
Best,
Xavier

Subject: [Ext] Re: [Gnso-sc-budget] Request for table of discontinued core activities / projects
Dear Xavier,
Thank you for seeking clarification. I am simply seeking a table or series of bullet points that makes it clear which core, recurring activities were budgeted for in FY18 and are no longer budgeted for FY19. This does not need to be at a great level of detail; but it should make it clear, at a glance, what (if anything) has been removed from the budget. I am looking for something which would make it clear to me that, for instance, a programme like CROP had been discontinued. The intent is simply to understand what activities or support the GNSO and/or the Council have utilised in FY18 that will not be available for us in FY19.
I hope this is clearer. Please let me know if it isn't. Thanks.
Kind regards,
Ayden Férdeline

Ayden,
I hate to respond to a question with a question but… to clarify the need:
* Are you looking for activities happening during FY18 and not budgeted for in FY19? Or
* Are you looking for activities budgeted for FY18 and not budgeted for FY19?
Second, a significant factor of our ability to help with such a request is the level of detail at which the answer is desired. We do not have a more granular level of detail than the project in our planning and tracking structure. So any activity that is not itemized as a project is not visible that way and we do not have a data repository for it.
The most effective way to get to at least a partial answer to your question is to provide us with a list of activities that you are interested in, so that we can then respond specifically as to whether they are continued and how, in the same fashion as you have done by asking us about the CROP program.
Thank you.
Best,
Xavier

Subject: [Gnso-sc-budget] Request for table of discontinued core activities / projects
Hi,
On today's call, I said I would take one question to the mailing list, in the hopes that ICANN org might be able to provide a response:
Would it be possible please for the Standing Committee to be provided with a table of what's "out" from last year's budget, in the proposed FY19 Budget? I think that would be very fair in the interest of transparency; we need to know if any support that the GNSO Council and/or constituencies rely on have been discontinued. Thank you!
Best wishes,
Ayden
