[Gnso-sc-budget] ICANN FY19 Draft Budget Now Posted

Hi All,

 

ICANN Finance has posted for public comment the draft FY19 Budget and Ops
Plan documents.  We will begin our review starting on Monday, per the agenda
sent out earlier this week.

The comment close date is listed as 8 March 2018.  Unlike prior GNSO Council
public comment submissions, the preferred method this year is to have a
draft of comments for the Council's consideration at a meeting prior to the
close of the comment period so that a motion can be adopted.  Therefore, we
have until 12 February 2018 to make the Motions and Documents submissions
deadline.  The Council is scheduled to meet 22 February 2018.  That gives us
three weeks from 22 January to review the budget in detail and formulate a
draft of comments.  I cannot speak for the Council leadership, but given the
tight timeline, an option exists for Council members to vote on motions via
email under special circumstances.  I think our preference should first
attempt to make the 12 February deadline and should the SCBO find that it is
unable to do so, we can engage Council leadership at that time.

 

On our next call, we will discuss our future meeting schedule leading up to
the deadline.
