[Gnso-sc-budget] Bullet point on personnel costs

Thanks for this, Xavier.

I am about to listen to today's call (my apologies again for being unable to make it), so perhaps this question was answered on there, but I did not see in this remuneration practices document any references to what these 401(k) contributions actually entail. (I am referring to the sentences which state officers receive "medical, dental, vision, life insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan that ICANN makes available to all its U.S. based employees.")

From what I understand reading [this document](https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/financial-report-fye-30jun17-en.pdf), page 28, ICANN offers a 401(k) contribution of up to 15 percent of salary. This seems to me to be very generous and I am wondering how it compares to other companies. Is this figure still accurate?

I also note that ICANN org's organizational chart implies that Sally Costerton is an officer of the organisation, or at least a member of the ICANN org Executive Team and a Senior Advisor to the President, however details as to her remuneration remain absent from the remuneration practices document which contains these details for other offices. Am I reading this correctly? Thank you.

Best wishes,

Ayden Férdeline

The overall budgeted personnel costs of $76.8 million comprise 56% of the $138 million budget, and a further $23.4 million, or 17% of the budget, is allocated to outside consultants, attorneys, and other "professional services." The GNSO Council believes that there is a need to stop the growth in the size of the organisation's staff, to review staff salaries, bonuses, and fringe benefits (particularly in the middle to top tiers of management), and to explore how as a proportion of the budget, personnel costs and the extraordinary spend on professional services can be decreased over time. In addition, as professional services are a significant spend now, we ask that there be more detail and clarification on what this entails. We are aware that some such services may incorporate call transcription services and additional policy staff support, but we would like to know what other kinds of services are bundled into this spend.
