Hi Jimson,

I said on our call today that I would respond to your email, and listen to what others think.

Speaking in my personal capacity, I do not think that ICANN has a monopoly on championing a single, open, globally interoperable Internet. I think it is admirable and important that there are multiple actors who support these values. For these reasons, I do not support changing "a champion" to "the champion" in the vision statement.

During our call, John McElwaine offered his interpretation of this word, saying, "I think "champion" is meant to be a tireless advocate not a victor."

At this time I am proposing that we do not change the first line of the vision statement.

However, if any SCBO Member or Subject Matter Expert disagrees with this path forward, please can you express your support for changing the vision statement by providing either alternative text and/or a rationale for a change. Thank you.

Kind regards,

Ayden Férdeline

The Vision Statement considered in full is too long and needs to be concise and serve as the phrase that captures our aspiration.
