[Gnso-sc-budget] [draft] Comment on 2021-2025 Strategic Plan

Ayden,

Thanks for moving this forward.  I have two comments.

1.  We have discussed the concern that ICANN.org is becoming a bloated
organization.  We do see some right sizing with the Fellows Program, etc.
I feel we should emphasize that these steps are only a start and more needs
to be done to right size ICANN.org.

I'm not sure where this message should be added.  Perhaps one of the
strategic objectives needs to be scaled back.

Any suggestions?

2. On item *3.4 Plan a properly funded, managed, and risk-evaluated new
round of gTLDs., you ask:*

Ayden - discussion item: I’m not sure about this. It seems a pre-determined
path. Have we actually agreed yet on a need for another round of gTLDs? I
also am not convinced that the expansion of the domain name space is
necessary to acknowledge the “relevance and importance of the unique
identifier systems”.

Tom- Actually, I feel that the expansion of gTLDs is one of the core
reasons for ICANN's existence.
