Please find below and attached my comment on the draft ICANN Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2021 - 2025 as discussed in the meeting today.

Comment on the Draft ICANN Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2021 - 2025
  
 Introduction
  
 On the Introduction page, I note that mention is only made of ICANN's mission. I would recommend that mention be made also of the word vision where mission appears in the first paragraph. 
  
 On the 6th paragraph and last sentence, it is necessary to provide a link reference for the mentioned bylaws.
  
 Proposed Vision
  
 It is my view that ICANN is already the (not even 'a') champion of the single, open, and globally interoperable Internet…and as such the statement is no longer an aspiration. The Vision Statement considered in full is too long and needs to be concise and serve as the phrase that captures our aspiration.
  
 In this wise, I would like to propose a revision of the Vision statement as follows:
  
 “To assure and sustain a stable, secure and resilient single, open and globally interoperable Internet.
  
 Underlining this vision is our commitment to:
  
  
+ Remain the independent, trusted, multi-stakeholder steward of the Internet's unique identifiers 
+ Foster an open and collaborative environment where diverse stakeholders come together in the global public interest to 

 a) Ensure operational excellence of the IANA functions;
 b) Continuously improve the unique identifier systems;
 c) Strengthen the security of the Domain Name System and the DNS Root Server System;
 d) Evolve ICANN's governance model to remain effective, transparent, and accountable;
 e) Improve the effectiveness of ICANN's policy development processes;
 f) Anticipate and manage the impact of legislation and regulation; and
 g) Ensure ICANN is technically robust and financially sustanaible. “
  
  
 Question: What is the global public interest? I think that needs to be defined.
