Hi Raphael,

I will make an attempt to respond to your question, but I will admit that I’m fully in the know about these planned RALO engagement sessions.

As I understand, these are Regional General Assemblies that occur infrequently across at least four of the five RALOs. Only one or two may occur any given fiscal year and are largely dependent on key events and their location as to maximize participation while minimizing cost. Because these do not occur on regular schedules, they are not incorporated into the annual Policy budget. 

For the draft FY21, the LACRALO event coincides with the ICANN 67 meeting in Cancun. The EURALO event looks to coincide with EuroDIG in Trieste Italy. $104K and $65K are allocated to each meeting respectively.

An additional important note is that just because a group or a meeting isn't specifically called out in the budget, doesn't mean they are not funded for specific reasons or meetings.

I all,

I have a quick question, which some of you who have been around longer may be able to answer.

How come ALAC gets two funded meetings in a single FY for a total of 170 000 USD? See p.16 of the budget. That's more than the equivalent of 50 travel slots... It seems a lot and I wonder how come Org is funding that.
