Dear Sebastien, Kaili and Maureen.

I can assure you I am following very closely the evolution of events around this issue. I can also tell you that I share your concerns and that I am in fact assuming a leading role in this within the Board. As it is an ongoing matter, I can’t comment on details but can tell you that we are looking at this very closely and having thorough discussions on the issue.

I thank you for your continued support and your trust. I also thank you for your understanding of me not being able to provide you with more details at this point.

Kind regards,

León

Hello
I hope we will have a sooner than later
And I will be able to express my disagreement
Please keep Léon outside of all that.
The only thing useful is to discuss what could be a consensus advice to the Board

I fully agree that we should not make Leon's position difficult by leaning towards At-Large alone. However, this .org issue is clearly highly related to ICANN's credibility and survival. Thus, I am asking Leon to stand out on this for ICANN as a whole, which I believe is fully appropriate for his role as VC. Meanwhile, this will also give us a good reason for selecting him to be on the Board (maybe even for his next term).

Meanwhile, I suggest ALAC to make our voice heard ASAP, because the time to take action is limited.

Thank you!

Kaili

I think we have to work on this issue in our own way as I am sure the Board is doing and will let us know in due time.
I think we can give advice to the Board, but I don't like to single Leon out and compromise him in his new role. We must remember that he cannot openly support At-Large over other ICANN sectors, especially as Vice Chair. At the same time, we know he is always watching our back .
But I believe we should do something.

ALAC MUST act on this. ICANN MUST act on this. Otherwise, ICANN will be dead soon ...

In particular, I would like to hear Leon's position on this matter, and expect him to play a leading role.

For those who have not been following the PIR sale too closely, this new article from The Register offers an excellent primer on what has happened and why it matters:
