[ICANN Academy WG] post to list regarding pilot SO/AC Leadership training in Toronto

Hello Bill,

I need to make this correction/clarification it seems, as I am that "she":

I did not say I would design the curriculum specifically myself at all.

My update in Prague to the ICANN WG was solely that there had been an allocation from the FY13 budget for a pilot of an SO/AC Leadership Training and Orientation program. I also did say that I am the lead Staff responsible of this project's implementation, responding to a specific question as "Who will be the project manager?". The budget item is tied to Participation and Engagement.

I also said and can re-iterate again here that in my vision I would work with this group in the implementation steps if the group is willing to produce recommendations, guidance and proposals in regards to implementation details such as curriculum, speakers and format of this training program.

So as per the roles, this is my view:

ICANN Academy WG will come up with an agreed proposal containing all sorts of main recommendations for the implementation of the pilot in Toronto.

ICANN Staff (me) will implement those within the approved budget. Obviously what can be implemented or not for Toronto will be tied to the reserves and resources. I think it would be wise to have me involved during your discussions so that we can streamline better and I can advise in the feasibility of things before you devote more time in them during proposal development.

So in my view this is working together.

In regards to your other comment and similar previous comments, Olivier, Wolf, Sandra and the At-Large WG know that I have been involved in most of their previous discussions on this idea and contributed more than a year now too, so I was there as the idea was being developed and helped with making recommendations and in pointing out the existing efforts so they did not need to be repeated here. So I am no alien to the subject.

You are right, this in fact touches also the outreach discussions and I would like to remind everyone that this was already recognized as a potential compliment example to the whole Outreach framework that is developed by an ICANN Staff Group (lead by Kurt Pritz and that I am part of) when it was shared in Dakar. As you may remember we further talked about that concept in the Outreach session in Prague on Thursday too.

So ICANN WG can trust that I have strong background about the intentions and the goal of the program.

I hope these outline my facilitation already so far and I am willing to continue as I outlined above and I do hope ICANN WG sees it fit so we can work together and have a successful pilot in Toronto.

Kind regards
---

Sorry, I couldn't make the session in Prague. Could someone elaborate on what was said in this regard?

Again, this seems rather similar to the outreach discussion. It'd be helpful if staff here could simply explain how they plan to facilitate the participation of the community that promoted these ideas in their realization….
