As many of you know, new ICANN Board Chair Cherine Chalaby sat in as an observer on our Adobe teleconference meeting<https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=71601167> on Nov. 14th.



You will see in the email below that Cherine would like to continue to observe our progress, setting forth his views on the importance of our work. In my opinion this is great news.



Also – reminder – our next IOT Adobe teleconference meeting is set for Dec. 7 (Thursday) at 19:00 UTC. I will be sending along several emails in the interim.

Hi David,



Thank you for letting me observe yesterday, and if you have no objection I would like to continue as an observer on an ongoing basis.

I consider the work on the IRP system and the establishment of the standing panel to be a priority and a major accomplishment of the accountability process.



I was much encouraged to hear yesterday on the call that the supplemental rules will be put in front of the Board around the January/February timeframe.  We need to move this along and make it happen.



With regard to the standing panel, I believe it is important for the Board, ICAAN Org and the SO/ACs to coordinate their respective roles in the selection process, so that, collectively, we are able to bring the selection process to a successful and timely conclusion.



As for the Cooperative Engagement Process (CEP), I understand the logic that this work will follow after the work on the supplemental rules is complete.



Finally, with respect to future reviews of the IRP procedures, Avri made a good point that the reviews, whether done by ATRT or by a new special review,  must be done periodically and that probably should include representation from the IRP panel as well as from the community.  Avri also mentioned that discussions are taking place for considering possible changes to the Bylaws from “may be reviewed” to “shall be reviewed”.
