[Latingp] LGP meeting at UTC 17:00 on Tuesday 10 Nov.

Dear Meikal,

Thank you for the suggestion. So far it has been preliminary work, looking for languages with low EGIDS numbers for as many code points as possible. In the longer term, we need to add lists of languages using the code points, especially in the cases with higher EGIDS numbers.

Regards,

Chris.

Dear colleagues,

based on my experience with ArabicGP, I think it is generally useful to demonstrate the use of code points also for several languages. It will help demonstrate the use of code points across regions and continents, particularly in cases in which IP might challenge eligibility for inclusion of particular languages. However, it is not necessary or even possible to be encompassing, but where several languages make use of the same code point, we should not drop a reference because one languages is spoken by less people than the other.

Best wishes,

Meikal

Dear Mirjana and colleagues,

Thank you for your email.

I’ll leave Vietnamese as the example for đ, as more people speak Vietnamese than those languages. Š, however, should have been in the table and somehow got omitted. Thanks for spotting it. I will send out a corrected version of the table within the next couple of hours.

Please also note that my table does not yet cover the Latin Extended Additional section, which starts on p.99 of msr-2-non-cjk-13apr15-en.pdf.

Regards,

Chris.

Dear Chris,

I am not sure what informations are interesting for you, and how to submit it:

For example letter Đ (đ) is used in Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, all of them has EGIDS score 1.
On the other hand you did not specify for example letter Š (š) that is used in
Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, and Slovenian.

Are those informations of any value for you.

regards

Mirjana

Dear colleagues,

In response to the actions of our face-to-face meeting, I have started a draft of attestations for the Latin part of MSR2 (attached), i.e., the list of letters in yellow in the Latin part of msr-2-non-cjk-13apr15-en.pdf (I omitted a-z). The languages I have chosen are roughly speaking the languages using the code points with the greatest numbers of speakers. I would be grateful for your comments (especially on lines in red in the table) either before or during our meeting. For example, are you aware of a language with an EGIDS score (or a higher one) that uses the code point in question? (Reference: www.ethnologue.com/browse/names<http://www.ethnologue.com/browse/names> )

Our next meeting is scheduled for UTC 17:00 on Tuesday 10 November. Please let me know if the time is not convenient.

Regards,

Chris.
