Dear All,<br>
<br>
Please find attached, further modified draft of the Devanagari LGR
to be sent to IP review. <br>
Supporting Document - (Filename:
LGR-Proposal_Devanagari_20180130.docx & PDF)<br>
Main Document - (Filename: Proposed-LGR-Deva-20180130.xml)<br>
Valid-Invalid Labels - (Filename: Devanagari LGR-Valid_Invalid
Labels.txt)<br>
Variant Labels - (Filename: Devanagari LGR - Variant Producing
Labels.txt)<br>
<br>
It has been modified as per the previous suggestions from the IP. A
point by point response from NBGP on the corrections made is also
attached.<br>
(Filename: Response to IP-response-on-Devanagari-20180102-v3.docx
& PDF)<br>
<br>
If there are no significant changes suggested by NBGP members, the
same may be forwarded to IP for their review.<br>
<br>
Having said that, would like to bring following points on the
discussion table about cross-script variants among DV and Gurmukhi.
As per my earlier mail dated 31st Jan 2018, on DV and Gurmukhi
cross-script variants, we had agreed upon two cases out of three.
Both of them have been considered in this recent draft.<br>
<br>
Further similar cases were observed for two more pairs. <br>
1. U+0A1C ( ਜ ) being variant with U+0924 (त) as well as U+0924
U+094D U+0924 (त्त):<br>
Proposed change: Again, since it has been decided that no same
script homoglyphic variants will be proposed, one of the variants
needs to be dropped. In this case U+0924 (त) is proposed to be
dropped.<br>
(This has been dropped in current Draft. However community is
requested to discuss and provide feedback)<br>
2. U+0A27 ( ਧ ) being variant with U+092A (प) as well as U+092F (य):<br>
Proposed change: For the same reason as above, U+092F (य) is
proposed to be dropped.<br>
(This has been dropped in current Draft. However community is
requested to discuss and provide feedback)<br>
<br>
Also, from previous discussion one point was still open on which
there was no agreement. Given below.<br>
Point: U+0947 (े) which has U+0946 ( ॆ) as Variant in DV, following
combination should also be admitted as cross-script variant in DV
and Gurmukhi. They also look-alike in our opinion.<br>
प्टॆ U+092A U+094D U+091F U+0946 (Devanagari)<br>
ਏ U+0A0F (Gurmukhi)<br>
(This has NOT been added in current Draft. However community is
requested to discuss and provide feedback)<br>
<br>
Also, please note that the way you will see these characters in your
Email Client / on browser, it is just one form of representation of
those. That cannot provide a larger perspective about general
shaping tendency of those characters. Hence it is requested that
they been seen from a broader lens of cross-script confusability in
case you do not see them to be similar enough. A good way of
ensuring this is to see those characters in different fonts.<br>
