I'd say that regstrants that are natural persons deserve protection, but 
they are a tiny fraction of all registrants.

True, but not particularly relevant.  I have no objection to obscuring 
info for domain used by actual natural persons for non-commercial 
purposes, which I think is pretty typical even among people who use WHOIS 
to fight various online evils.
