Hello Glenn and all,

Thank you for raising this issue.

I have checked with the Communications Department and understood the correct licensing for the Flickr photos is Attribution – share alike. People are free to use our Flickr photos and they just need to attribute ICANN when they do. So, in our account’s case they would need to attribute ICANN’s At-large Community if they use a photo from the At-Large Flickr account. Including if they make any changes to the photo – they still need to attribute the photo to At-Large.

I have done the license update for all of our Flickr photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/icannatlarge/. Please note that the link that Glenn provided is a much older Flickr account. I have checked with my predecessors and none of them could recall the login. I have downloaded all the photos from there and transferred to the new account. Unfortunately, without being able to log in I cannot change the license there.

Please let me know if you have further question.

Thank you,

Ariel

Subject: [Ext] Flickr Pictures in ICANN Group pool

Hi
As followup to today's call. I have mentioned on numerous occasions that the licence that ICANN uses for photos of ATLARGE isn't appropriate

Example of one group

https://www.flickr.com/photos/at-large/albums/72157619193393532/with/3559450051/[flickr.com]

The licence that was selected is ALL RIGHTS Reserved

Description

License TypeInfo about the license
All Rights ReservedYou, the copyright holder, reserve all rights provided by copyright law, such as the right to make copies, distribute your work, perform your work, license, or otherwise exploit your work; no rights are waived under this license.

My opinion and it seemed to be shared by the meeting today is that this is not the appropriate licence for a community such as ATLARGE and clearly not functional for a Social Media engagement

The request is find out why COMM has made this decision rather than a Creative Commons Share Alike licence. You have options in FLICKR.

Thanks
