This the SSR1 sub-group update:

Sub-group Progress
==============

1- The 28 SSR1 recommendations have been implemented from October 2012 to April 2017

2- Briefings on the implementations of all the recommendations has been completed. Staff provided all responses to questions and data requests related to the briefings.

3- Decision has been made by the SSR1 sub-group and approved by the team to outsource the Gap analysis on the implementation of the 28 recommendations to a contractor.

4- The sub-group work plan has been amended and approved by the team - August 2017

5- Staff has proposed RFP for hiring the contractor. It has been approved and published according to the schedule below:

Activity
Dates
Announcement posted on ICANN.org <http://icann.org/>
28 September 2017
Proposals Due
16 October 2017
Contractor starts project
6 November 2017
Gap analysis outline and presentation to SSR2 Review Team to collect input
13 November 2017
Draft gap analysis report
11 December 2017
Meeting with SSR2 Review Team to present Draft gap analysis report and collect input
19 December 2017
Final Report
16 January 2018
Meeting with SSR2 Review Team to present Final gap analysis Report
23 January 2018

6- The RFP closed on the 16th October 2017. Only 2 proposals were received.

7- Sub-group and co-chairs has agreed to extend the RFP for a couple of days. Staff have been instructed to act on the extension according to the schedule below

New deadline for proposals due:7 November
Contractor starts project: 4 December
Draft gap analysis report due: 5 January
Final report due: 13 February

 This extension will allow more communication around the RFP( the outreach during this ICANN meeting shall be used) and hopefully attract more proposals.

The change on the schedule for the Gap analysis will imply slight changes on the global work plan. Only draft Gap analysis report will be available for the face to face in January2018.

Issues  that emerged
=================

1- Staff raised some concerned about the clarity of some of the SSR1 recommendations. Staff has developed internal understanding of the recommendations and the corresponding implementation plan and actions.

2- Neither the implementation report, nor the briefings provide the staff understandings of the recommendations, provide information on how the proposed implementation plans and actions match the expected impact of the recommendations.

3-Questions were raised about how the implementation of the recommendations were conducted. Is there a dedicated staff in charge of the coordination of the implementation of the recommendations. Some of the recommendations are transversal...

4- Some questions( from Denise) has been forwarded to Staff about the implementation of some the recommendations. Pending responses from Staff.

Discussions points
================

1- Ask staff to provide a document addressing 2) including impacts of the implemented recommendations as they see and measure ?

2- How do we select the contractor ?

3- Who do we work with the contractor ?, It was agreed that the sub-group serve as main contact to the contractor.

4- What we do between now and the beginning of the contractor work( 4th December) to prepare for the gap analysis ?

Sub-group members:
==================
Denise, Alain, Ram Krishna

Hope this helps

 Wish you a good meeting and see you on Saturday

—Alain
