Thanks so much for your comments. I am support of Dev's idea and
did recall bringing up this issue in Dublin. I think it is a great
project and has my support. I also think it would work well for
AFRALO and APRALO as well. I submitted a phase 2 request for
captioning to extend the pilot and also add additional languages
such as French and Spanish.<br>

Yes, Beran used to be an active member of the TTF before she moved
to Nigeria. Is there a better time for you. We are always looking to
find a time that works best for as many people as possible and are
not averse to changing the current time of the TTF<br>

It is very straightforward to implement for
other regions like AFRALO for any two language
lists. I'll suggest that AFRALO through the
FBSC express support for the proposal so that
the tool can be used in AFRALO. Because the
existing new code is not ready for use
(currently HTML mail works, but plain text
email doesn't)<br>

Once the bugs have been fixed, I've even
proposed an alternative approach that would
scale for multiple language groups in regions.

clear whether a new set of code
development will not be required. So

also submit something similar and then
it gets combined at a later time? I am

persons to fix this software
tool. There is only one person
from ICANN<br>
IT staff who attempts to work on
a new version of the translation
tool<br>
in his spare time, outside of
ICANN hours. As this ICANN IT
person is<br>
very busy at ICANN and his
volunteer efforts are
appreciated, he has<br>
little to no spare time to work
on fixing the outstanding bugs
in the<br>
software. It is clear that a
person is critically needed at
ICANN with<br>
a mandate to fixing this
software.<br>
<br>
Hence this budget request is for
funding to be made available to
ICANN<br>
IT staff for ICANN to hire a
programmer to work on ICANN’s
new machine<br>
translation tool and fix the
remaining bugs so that the new
software<br>
tool can be installed and ease
the communication difficulties
faced by<br>
LACRALO, the At-Large Community
and ICANN Staff over the past 6
years.<br>
<br>
Although this proposal was
submitted to LACRALO earlier in
the week,<br>
it appears that LACRALO will not
be considering any proposals for<br>
submission.<br>
<br>
Hence, the TTF will be
submitting the attached proposal
to the FBSC<br>
for their review.<br>
