Elkhart county may ask the federal government to overturn St. Joseph
county's decision to switch to central time. St. Joseph (home of
South Bend) is the state's 4th-largest county. Elkhart argues that it
would be hard for St. Joseph to prove that South Bend is part of the
greater Chicago area economically.

Kosciusko County originally pledged to join St. Joseph County in a
quest for Central Time, but on Tuesday decided to stay "neutral"
instead. But there is no "neutral"; if they do nothing, they'll stay
on eastern time.

Marshall County is petitioning for central time.
