By the time the EU gets around to doing anything about this, if they do, any of
those signatories may have changed, depending on Brexit, other departures, and
other countries deciding Schengen is or is not such a great idea nowadays e.g.
Hungary, Poland, France de facto (unless they reopened their borders).

As a long time non-resident EU citizen (this year) I try to avoid cultural
baggage on any sides and consider the long term.
