Thanks for the pointer to that informative article by Dan Goodin. I 
passed it along my sysadmins.

A quick Google search says users have also reported that Microsoft 
Windows can change its time zone spontaneously - that is, time zone 
travel rather than time travel. I didn't find an explanation for this 
other phenomenon.
