We believe that correctly handling RTL domain labels/email addresses (Bidi) is essential part UA. Otherwise, RTL users will have difficulty to understand/communicate URLs or email addresses.

Subject: [UA-discuss] Bi-Di text treatment

I've seen a number of discussions recently about the challenges of treating text generally, and identifiers specifically, that include scripts/characters that operate both left-to-right AND right-to-left.

I don't think that the UASG is a home for this because the issue extends beyond domain names and email addresses.

But I think there must be someplace that focuses specifically on this topic and I would like to be able to provide a pointer to it.

Any suggestions?

Don
