[UA-discuss] Call for Nominations

Hi Everyone,

I would like to nominate Richard Merdinger for the position as Chair of UASG.

Richard has been serving as the Vice Chair since the beginning of this group, and has been a strong advocate of UA.  As the UASG looks to grow as an independent initiative supported by ICANN financially, I believe his guidance, especially with a strong experience from the ICANN community as a whole and from registries and registrars in particular, is critical for the continuity and development of this effort.

Yes.  The same cohort who can stand can vote.

We have taken the voting addresses as of today.

Actually, the existing Chair is precluded from standing again as Chair and two of the existing vice-chars are precluded from standing as vice-chairs.   In all three cases they have served the maximum two terms.   But they already know that.

I have a question. 

The text says that “ Anyone subscribed to the UA-discuss at icann.org <mailto:UA-discuss at icann.org>  mailing list is eligible to stand”. However, it does not say - or I have missed - who can vote.

I assume that it is all the subscribers of the UA-discuss at icann.org <mailto:UA-discuss at icann.org>  mailing list, but I would like to have confirmation.

The UASG is having elections for the Chair and Vice Chair.  Here’s the process.   NB: All times are 23:00 UTC

Nominations

This is a call for nominations.   

Anyone subscribed to the  <mailto:UA-discuss at icann.org> UA-discuss at icann.orgmailing list is eligible to stand.

Nominations (including self-nominations) should be sent to  <mailto:info at uasg.tech> info at uasg.tech and should include:

*	the name of the person nominated
*	the position(s) for which they are nominated
*	contact details for the person nominated.  This should include an email address and a telephone number.

The election administrator will verify that the nominated person accepts the nomination.

Once the nomination deadline has passed on February 27 2019 a list of candidates will be prepared showing name, email address, photo and candidate statement.  Names will be shown by position in alphabetical order of surnames.

Candidates can be nominated for Chair, Vice-Chair or both.

These voting methods allow voters to rank their choices.  

Voting will open on March 3, 2019 and close on March 10, 2019.  Decisions will be announced as soon as they are ready and have been verified.
