Dear all,

As one of the UA Ambassadors, mentioned couple of times in this thread, I would like to say that I am really thrilled to see so many people interested in our work.

More than that, I am very happy that people are asking right questions and especially about spending money on something good and useful for this community.

Unfortunately, I cannot speak about other UA Ambassador, because I am not familiar entirely with their work and I don’t like to speak without knowing facts. Every region is specific and different, starting with culture. There is no right approaches (especially when there is nothing left these days ;) ), every single move done by Ambassadors needs to be seen along with place and time of happening. Generalization about the whole Ambassador program is dangerous, if you don’t have the facts and go deeper in the work of every single Ambassador.

I partially tried to answer the questions in Barcelona during some of the UA sessions, but apparently, you wasn’t there to hear the answer.

Therefore, I am sending you my brief report on the first year of my work. Excuse me for my English, I am not native English speaking person, so probably there are mistakes. But as I said once, by speaking English on IDN sessions, we are missing the topic, so please - forgive me. You can also see that report goes back to middle of 2016 (and with my short bio), when I was not holding any title in UASG. That was written for you to compare my work “before and after”, and also, regarding spending money.

As you can see, in my case, two trips were paid from UASG. That means flight tickets and accommodation for 2 (1st trip) and 3 days (second trip). I think it’s bellow 1K USD (not sure, because it’s not booked by me). I estimated the spending of my company and myself for other trips at least 15 times more than this figure, if this helps. Opinion on efficiency and the answer to the question does my work fits in your vision of UA Ambassador role, I leave all that to you. UASG is community driven, bottom up initiative, and the accountability must be checked by the community. I personally like the opinions in these thread, and I am inviting more people to join in discussing the work of UA Ambassadors, but based on the facts. Also, I am inviting all Ambassadors to do the similar (I hope better than me) reporting, so we can have fruitful discussion here and on F2F meeting, also Don to report about money and other valuable things for this program. It needs to be clear to all, in order to have right opinion, also regarding the future of the program (I’ve seen the opinion to extend the program).

Regarding F2F meeting, because in orthodox countries such as Russia and Serbia, we celebrate Christmas on 7th January, I was unable to go there in person, but I would try to be present remotely. Also, even if this report was not asked from me, I feel obligated to deliver it for this F2F meeting, as my Ambassadors report, and I would like to hear from you and people who elected me, to judge my work. As I wrote in my report, I would be “UA Ambassador” with or without holding that title, the title is irrelevant for me - UA and IDN is not something that I work for titles and UASG funding, it’s my work for almost 10 years now. I can even say – way of life. J

I am aware that elections are coming soon for UASG leadership roles, and I strongly believe that those questions about UA Ambassador program have nothing to do with elections. Someone mentioned Dr Ajay Data, and I can immediately agree with everything said about him. We are working together for couple of years, and I am amazed with all achievement he has in the area of EAI, hoping that he would take some position in UASG after elections.

If you need more details, don’t hesitate to ask, I would be happy to answer them.

Hello AM

I am flabbergasted to perceive your email it immaculate us your hallucination, philosophies and outlooks. Infact of Asian’s UA Ambassador as Abdalmonem also instant in what you revealed.

You have a squat commemoration, we come across and interchange our business cards during ICANN60.

Glad that you partially agree with my point however I do not come to a pact on any of your edicts.

Astonished to observe that UA Ambassadors do not know about what is expected and contributed by members of UASG and as off now we all were confident on such UA Ambassadors directly appointed for spreading awareness of UA.

Your heroic self-proclamation that “UA Ambassadors are not employees or paid consultants and paid any $'s” evidently substantiate that UASG leadership failed to choose right team members, as people with such messy views can never contribute in any not for profit community associations looking for voluntary services.

Do you & Abdalmonem contemplate that other UA Ambassadors Dusan, Tobias, Elaine or John who have given perceptible manifestation and angel for UASG mission ubiquitously are employees or paid consultants or funded, no they voluntary given their services. They prospered because they were not having messy outlooks or gluttony. Mortified with your chaotic compassions but still utterly motivating to see folks alike Ajay most perfect exemplar for UASG who without holding any position in UASG truly encouraged about UASG mission all over the places. Also he helps us to extricate why he succeed or people like AM or others have failed. Besides that one more thing which mark unblemished that when we choose mien compatible individuals in team we must corroborate period since when they are aiding IT industry, else they will also do analogous gaffes like AM who are merely fresh entrants in IT industry as I can decipher from his LinkedIn profile.

If we be precise its must to be conversed on paramount precedence in the upcoming F2F meeting in Washington that do we need such messy outlook or gluttony thinking individuals around. It also provide symptomatic reason why we failed in ASIA to spread UA awareness as if we partake individuals like them as speakers in our important events then criticize received for IAMAI events during ICANN63 Barcelona was impeccable illustration of their stimulus.

UASG leadership must cogitate and mien compatible individuals in team who ponder such imperative position, not those who take it to gain some monitory benefit or support. Yes it must be outlined again in F2F meeting in Washington and some elementary guiding principle must be made for selection of volunteers of UASG then only our mission can be accomplished.

Unfortunately because of my imperative family onuses I will not be joining in F2F meeting in Washington but will try to be existing remotely conversely I demand chair RAM and other co-chairs to solemnly made cautious decision to get away from people with such messy views and mien compatible individuals in team who ponder such imperative position. I am concomitant with ICANN from over decades, at age of 73 unfluctuating even if I wish I could not make offer for this position as I can’t do justice with it but have aspiration to see that we have more people like Ajay to volunteer.

Hello William, Ram, Don and other community members,

Though I have never met your personally in any of the UA meetings but I partially agree with your point.

We all need to discuss in detail about what is expected and contributed by members of UASG and with little specific to UA Ambassadors as they are directly appointed for spreading awareness. It should be noted that UA Ambassadors are not employees or paid consultants, they are like any other UA member and I don`t think UA ambassadors are even paid any $`s or they have spent any money till now at-least in India. Rather UA ambassadors have spent money from there pocket for travel etc and contributed in UA mission.

We need to have clear direction, agenda and guideline with the Roles and Responsibility for UA Ambassadors and members. This may be discussed in the upcoming F2F meeting in Washington or in Kobe. If you are attending there , please feel free to raise these points. Unfortunately I am not able to attend in person in DC or remotely. However it should be discussed as it will also be very helpful for any new UA Ambassador joining.

Regarding IAMAI event, though I was speaker there and found good awareness activity being done by every speaker around UASG and its issues. Some people may not be satisfied enough and believe more could have been done. I would agree, we can always improve.

To bridge the gap, UASG leadership may consider inviting all UA ambassadors in at-least one of the ICANN in a year and now probably to the upcoming meet in ICANN 64 at Kobe (its focused on IDN) so that everyone can be able to present on what they have contributed individually and what was expected from them and also prepare them for one year.

It would be my pleasure to talk to you, please let me know your skype, whatsapp or any other medium.

Thanks,
AM

Hello Ram, Don and other community members

Happy New Year. Year 2019 will be brining many vicissitudes in UASG as the tenure of chair Ram Mohan is on accomplishment and fresh being will take the chair to foster UASG mission accompanied by vice chairs and UA Ambassadors in near future. Formerly it transpire can we have momentary update of every distinct impact how they lead to achieve UASG mission. What if the future take of UASG as with existing small group of few UA Ambassadors out of whom merely few of them were really able to contribute what was really expected from them specifically the ASIA region team which has radically botched in conveying regarding which we all overheard abundant in Kobe for wastage of UASG funds with completely failed events held in India explicitly with IAMAI. What’s the new pipeline of fresh faces for UA Ambassadors and how soon UASG is adding them so that the mission of UASG can be achieved with quicker pace? Can we expect to hear on it during Face-to-Face Coordination Group meeting in Washington DC programmed next week?

FYI:

The UASG is having a Face-to-Face Coordination Group meeting in Washington DC from January 7 to January 9th.

The agenda and associated papers are currently being prepared.

The meeting will consider a refresh of the group Strategic Plan particularly in light of the ICANN’s Board inclusion of Universal Acceptance in its strategic agenda.

Like all our meetings, we’ll provide remote access.

If you are thinking about attending in person, would you please let me know so that we can manage the logistics.

Thanks.
