Colegas,

envÃo aquÃ un aviso reciÃn recibido sobre la Fuerz de Trabajo sobre
Criterios y Expectativas para las ALS (estructuras "At-Large"); esta
convocatoria, si la entiendo bien, requiere que tres personas de la regiÃn
LatinoamÃrica y Caribe sean seleccionadas para trabajar intensivamente
sobre los criterios y expectativas de las ALS. Una serÃ seleccionada por
los miembros de ALAC de la regiÃn y dos serÃn seleccionadas por los lÃderes
de la regiÃn de acuerdo a la prÃctica de la RALO (LACRALO en nuestro caso).

Espero que nuestros representantes en ALAC y la Presidencia y SecretarÃa
hagan pÃblico cuando antes el procedimiento para esta selecciÃn, ya que el
grupo de trabajo iniciarÃ su actividad en la semana del 3 de agosto,
inminente a todas luces.

TambiÃn pienso que el consenso que alcanzamos recientemente sobre este
tema, al final de la reuniÃn en Buenos Aires, sea parte del mandato de
quienes resulten designados. Lo traigo a la memoria presente en resumen:
interesa que las organizaciones sean activas y representen los intereses y
principios mÃs caros a los usuarios generales de Internet en los temas de
ICANN; que funcionen internamente para obtener estos puntos de vista; y que
contribuyan activamente a los procesos de polÃticas y decisiones de ICANN,
de preferencia los sustantivos y con menorers prioridades los de
procedimientos, elecciones internas y asignaciÃn de recursos como puestos y
viajes.

Cabe aÃadir que todos deberÃamos esperar que la selecciÃn en nuestra regiÃn
prefiera a representantes con similares caracterÃsticas, participaciÃn
regular, frecuente y de fondo, autocrÃtica de nuestra propia organizaciÃn,
y demostrada capacidad de diÃlogo civil y constructivo.

 Dear All,

On behalf of Alan Greenberg, Chair of the ALAC, this is a call for Members
and Participants of the *At-Large ALS Criteria and Expectations Taskforce*.

The ALAC has chartered this Taskforce which will recommend to the ALAC:

- A revised set of criteria for all ALSes
- Expectations of how RALOâs, the ALAC and ICANN At-Large Staff will engage
ALSes
- Expectations of ALS participation

The Taskforce will be chaired by Alan Greenberg, and Membership will
include three people from each region:

*One ALAC member per region (to be selected by the ALAC Members from each
region); and *-

*Two people selected by the regional leadership (according to the RALO
practices). *Other members of the At-Large Community may join the group as
Participants if they wish. If you are interested, write to At-Large staff

The TF will be meeting *WEEKLY* with the intent of completing its work by
ICANN54 in October.
